Stemball Terminals
Common on imported vessels and some newer production US
built boats. Used on the upper ends of shrouds and backstays
and some headstays without furling systems. Fitting sits in
a SS cup which in turns rests in an aluminum socket in the
masthead or spreader base. Smaller diameter rigging installed
in some places on larger masts may require a double set of
cups.
When replacing rigging insure that the proper set of cups
are in place in the mast receptacles. Swage studs will pass
through the cups but eyes, forks, insulators, and installed
Sta-Lok terminals will not.
