Marine Eye This fitting
was the most popular terminals used in sailboat rigging back
in the days of double jaw turnbuckles and double plate mast
tangs that would take an eye. This eye has a larger pin hole
and a thicker body compared to the aircraft type eye. These
eyes are now found usually at the top of headstays and backstays
fitted to a strap masthead toggle. Also found in the connection
of a backstay bridle when double delta plates are used to
join the three pieces of wire.

Aircraft
Eye - Type 316SS
Not to be confused with marine eyes. Our aircraft eye is a version
of the original MS20668 but made with type 316SS and not certified
for aircraft use! Not a common fitting on newer boats. These
have been used in the past by some builders and in many cases
the holes have been driller out for larger pins. Now they are
used when fitting two cables together -eye to aircraft fork
for applications like running backstays and centerboard pennants.

Sailmaker
Eye - Type 316
A special terminal used on the ends of luff wire for some furling
systems to join the swivel to the drum. The extra hole is for
the sailmaker to attach the tack and head of the sail to the
wire terminal.
